Melanie's street paintings are enjoyable from all angles, giving your viewers the opportunity to delight in the full spectrum of the artwork. Whether you choose a traditional street painting on asphalt or a piece created on canvas for maximum versatility, her timeless figurative imagery will come alive and bewitch the crowd. If you are interested in something permanent, the canvas street painting is a wonderful option. Melanie's canvas works are fixed to the ground or floor during their creation to give the audience that authentic "street painting" feel, and give you a permanent fine art piece for your festival, corporate, or private collection. Display your street painting at the entrance of your next occasion, on the wall in your lobby, mounted on the ceiling of your office, or auction it off at your next fundraising event. Your options will be endless.

Featured above is the 2007 'I Madonnari Festival' poster featuring Melanie Stimmell's 12 x 16 foot street painting, 'The Allegory of Art', which graced the steps of the Santa Barbara Mission in 2006. The event marked the festivals 20th Anniversary and celebrated the birth of street painting in the United States. For this special event, Stimmell was chosen from an international list of participants for her wonderful Renaissance style and captivating, alabaster figures to create the festivals featured piece. 'The Allegory of Art' illustrates the history of street painting in a style reminiscent of the old Masters.

"My street paintings are a performance in visual art, using the asphalt as my canvas. My imagery, traditional in execution but whimsical in style, is a powerful statement of ephemeral beauty. Fading with the wind, rain, and footsteps, the once vivid imagery is soon lost to the evolution of the surface."

For those interested in a fresh and innovative hands on experience in street painting, Melanie has founded The Street Painting Academy.
