Hey there, lovely souls! Between canvases and cruises, I’ve embarked on a little DIY journey, and I’m so excited to share the story with you!
So, as some of you may already know, I dabble in designing wallpapers and fabrics, and one of my absolute favorites is my ‘Sew Sew Sweet’ collection. Within this whimsical series of patterns, is one that I totally fell in love with â ‘Silver and Gold’. Â Mostly because its motifs include a golden wired dress form, elegant scissors, delicate flowers and leaves, and, wait for it… a charming little piggy pin cushion! Can you imagine anything sweeter?
Now, our house was originally a model home and the whole house interior was done in Butter, Navy, and Orange. Â It was really beautiful and well done but just not our vibe at all. Â The first owner kept everything exactly as it was, then we moved in and changed everything except the laundry room for another 7 years. Â It was definitely time for a change, a splash of color, a touch of whimsy! Â So, I roughly measured the space and purchased two rolls of ‘Silver and Gold’ peel and stick wallpaper from Spoonflower, I was ready to transform the room into something truly magical. The plan was to cover three walls of the laundry room (except for the pesky washer and dryer wall â those things are heavy!) and paint the other.
But, the adventure didn’t quite start as most diy projects would. Â It was around 5 PM last night, after a full day of painting and errands, I decided it was time to tackle the task. Hubby, ever the supportive partner, was a bit hesitant given the late hour, but we dove right in! When I get the inclination, I usually just go with it.
As it turns out, my wallpapering skills are, well, let’s just say, a work in progress. But with determination and a sprinkle of DIY magic, I made it work…Just don’t look too closely :)
Imagine my surprise when two rolls barely covered 80% of one wall! Oops! đ But hey, imperfection is part of the charm, right? So, I’ve ordered another roll to complete the masterpiece. I realized that the large scale of the pattern (which I scaled up for this project) made it more difficult to find the repeat in the next roll so we had a good amount of waste.
Despite the hiccups, I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turning out. The pattern, the colors, the whole vibe â it’s pure joy! And guess what? If you’re swooning over this pattern too, you can get your hands on it in a wide array of fabric and wallpaper choices through Spoonflower. Plus, if the scale isn’t quite right for you, fret not! I can adjust it to fit your needs.
I promise to share better pictures once it’s all done and dusted but here’s a sad before and after comparison.  Sad because in my excitement to get started, we didn’t actually take any full before shots. Stay tuned for updates as I embark on the next phase of this makeover adventure. Until then, keep dreaming in color and creating your own little pockets of magic! đđŤ
Look out for part 2 soonđ¨â¨
Now don’t get me wrong, the Butter, Navy, and Orange is really nice, it’s just not me.  lol  The valance will definitely be going back up but I have to work on that blue border :).
